Why won't my payment go through?

If you are having trouble registering a new payment method, activating your subscription or making any other kind of payment, we would like to offer you some tips:

Common problems for all payment methods:

A very common issue for online payments is trouble with redirecting between web pages. If you have issues with blank pages, cannot get back to the BookBeat website from confirming your payment or if you have any other payment issue that you cannot explain, it is a good idea to try a different browser. Especially some mobile browsers cause issues, so try on a computer if you have one available. Please note that browsers issues can also occur if you have no trouble paying on other websites.

Card payments

Card payment can fail for different reasons, so make sure that - you have enough funds on the card - the card is registered for 3DS Secure payment - the card allows recurring payments - the card allow online purchases (For regular subscription payments your card does not need to allow internet purchases but when registering it as a payment method or when making a one time payment such as an upgrade, you need to allow internet purchases)

PayPal

If you use PayPal and are running into trouble, first make sure your PayPal account is verified. This is done by having PayPal send you a small amount of money and then entering a code. The PayPal verification status is completely separate from BookBeat. It is also quite possible your PayPal account works fine on other web pages as not all shops require verification.

Especially if your BookBeat account has been inactive, it is also possible that there is no payment agreement any more and BookBeat may no longer be allowed to charge you this way. Try to press "Edit" next to your payment method and re-register your PayPal account with us.

Also make sure you have a valid payment method connected to PayPal where enough credit is available.
